Economic Development Organizations

Community Economic Development responsibility in the South Kootenay is shared amongst several organizations and groups, including a regional coordinating and information sharing society called the Lower Columbia Community Development Team.

The Lower Columbia Community Development Team (LCCDT) is comprised of some 50 business leaders, municipal politicians and representatives from organisations with a common interest in social and economic development in the Lower Columbia region.

Community Futures of Greater Trail fosters local entrepreneurs through all phases of business from the pre-startup phase to the expansion of existing business through entrepreneurial programs, training, business counselling, business loans, and a business library of resource material. Community Futures also promote, coordinate and implement a wide variety of community economic development initiatives within the region.

Regional District Kootenay Boundary recommends contacting their Planning and Development Department for information about how to apply for an Official Community Plan Amendment or a Zoning Amendment; a Development Permit; a Development Variance Permit; or a Temporary Industrial or Commercial Use Permit.
