The South Kootenay is a readymade action packed vacation; -especially when you live here. No matter what activity you choose or what your skill level happens to be, you will never be bored. We don't know how you define excitement, but here's a few of our suggestions to get you started.

Bobsled downtown Rossland in a home made sled during the annual winter carnival, or

Play pond hockey in the Western Regional Pond Hockey championships on the outdoor rinks.

Urban Dweller: "The most exciting thing I've done lately is Catskiing in the BC Rockies. It was such a buzz getting fresh tracks in deep powder . It was super exciting and you could go easy or go hard depending on how you felt. That was a year ago on vacation. The rest of the year has been pretty dull actually."

SKP: "Last weekend we did a spontaneous back country tour with a few friends as the powder was fantastic and the mountains beckoned. It was wonderful; -the sky was cobalt blue, the snow fresh and light and we all skied well. Next weekend we have planned a night X-Country ski to camp out in one of the local Alpine cabins.
