More Healthy

Healthy Lifestye & More Health Care

Friendly, caring and professional would concisely describe Health Care in the South Kootenay. Generally speaking Health Professionals are here for the same reason your are. They seek a more fulfilling and healthy life.

Don't be surprised to meet up with your family doctor whilst riding the chairlift at the local ski hill. Fact is, Rossland has more doctors per capita than any other city in Canada!

Local Facilities

If you do happen to require a hospital visit, you will be glad to know the facilities are centrally located and very extensive for a rural community. The Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital is just that; -a regional hospital that serves 80,000 residents of the entire Kootenay and Boundary regions. The centrally located hospital also helped the South Kootenay to attract various other forms of traditional and non-tradition health care providers and clinics.

Urban Dweller: "I have a great retirement fund and thought I could gear down a little, maybe buy a more affordable house and start up a small business that my sons could take over. They love outdoor recreation, so I'd love to move to the South Kootenay where we've only visited, but my health is not great and I fear that I won't be able to find a suitable physician or the care I need. I know the fresh air and more active lifestyle may help me but I'm nervous about the move. If I could get more information I might just make the move".

SKP: "I used to work as lawyer in the city and after suffering 2 heart attacks decided it was time to change my lifestyle, plus I wanted to live my life before it was too late. I still needed continuing care and the specialist I saw is now my golfing partner. It seems he left town for similar reasons and we just went into partnership on a small sideline property development venture. We both maintain our small practices in law and medicine and are living well!"
