Terms of Reference

May 27, 2003

Purpose:

  1. Our primary goal is to insure the long-term sustainability of the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital as a modern and efficient institution for the benefit of all residents in the Kootenay Boundary region. We believe that the social and economic services it provides are essential to a viable Kootenay Boundary region.
  2. To recommend and prioritize capital projects that create optimum economic and healthcare benefits for the Kootenay Boundary region.
  3. To liaise with other health groups which have similar interests (eg. Trail Regional Hospital and Health Foundation, Community Health Advisory Committee, Interior Health Authority).

Membership:

  1. Shall be composed of volunteers from the private, public and community sectors representing various stakeholders. Elected officials may volunteer to serve as committee members.
  2. Membership shall not consist of more than twelve (12) members.

Term of Appointment:

The term of appointment for a member on the Committee shall be for two (2) years.

Chairperson:

  1. The Committee shall be chaired by persons appointed by the Chair of the LCCDT Congress.
  2. The Chairperson shall preside over all meetings in accordance with a definite agenda.

Secretary:

  1. The Committee shall appoint a secretary from the membership.
  2. The Secretary will be responsible to ensure that the meeting is recorded and the information is circulated to all members of the Committee.

Quorum:

The quorum of the Committee shall be fifty (50) percent plus one (1) member of the membership.

Voting:

The Committee will endeavor to operate by consensus, but can adopt decisions by vote of two thirds majority of its members if required.

Meetings:

  1. Meetings shall be on any Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the call of the Chair.
  2. Guests are at the invitation of the Chair.

Reporting:

Meeting minutes will be circulated to the Committee members, Secretary of the LCCDT Congress and Chair of the Community Health Advisory Committee.
